Scholarships

Rikkyo University offers the following scholarship opportunities to enable students to focus on their studies in Japan. For the students from the designated high schools who enter the PEACE Program or the NEXUS Program via a student acceptance agreement, we offer the “Rikkyo Promising Future Scholarship (RPFS)” for 1st-year students and “Rikkyo Exceptional Student Scholarship (RESS) for 2nd to 4th-year students. Students are eligible to receive the scholarship for up to 4 years (4.5 years for NEXUS students) while enrolled at Rikkyo to cover most of the tuition and other fees. Please see the overview below.

For 1st year students (determined before enrollment)

Rikkyo Promising Future Scholarship(RPFS)

Amount equivalent to tuition and other fees (EXCLUDING the admission fee)

In principle, 2nd- to 4th-year international undergraduate students who were awarded the RPFS in the priority category are eligible for the RESS.

*In addition to the RPFS and the RESS, Rikkyo University offers a variety of other scholarships for international students.

A total of 15 students will receive RPFS scholarships, with the recipients allocated among the designated regional brackets. 

Moreover, Rikkyo University offers an additional five RPFS scholarships for the regional bracket prioritized for development. This is a region or nation with which Rikkyo University wishes to strengthen its relationship further. If students from the regional bracket prioritized for development apply for the RPFS at the time of application and then are awarded that scholarship in the priority category, in principle, they will receive the RESS from the 2nd to the 4th year.

Scholarship award designations will be announced at the same time as the admissions notification. To receive the RESS, students must complete the prescribed Annual Scholarship Application Registration procedure and meet certain academic requirements after enrollment.

Rikkyo University will notify each designated high school of the specific number of RPFS recipients awarded to their institution in advance. Please keep in mind that RPFS scholarships are allocated based on the number of scholarships available for each regional bracket.

Please note that if a student does not apply for the RPFS or is not awarded one, the student may still apply for the RESS after enrollment. In that case, the scholarship amount will differ from that of the regional bracket prioritized for development.

Rikkyo Promising Future Scholarship (determined before enrollment)

The Rikkyo Promising Future Scholarship is offered to international students who display a strong desire to take part in their Rikkyo University studies and campus life and who want to play an active international role in their future careers.

Application Requirements

Applicants who meet the PEACE Program and the NEXUS Program Admissions Requirements for the Rikkyo Promising Future Scholarship. The Admissions Requirements are determined on the basis of the acceptance agreement into the PEACE program and the NEXUS Program between each designated high school and Rikkyo University.

Eligibility Requirements

Students having the residence status of “Student” at the time of admission and enrollment at Rikkyo University. 

*Even if you meet the admissions requirements for the Rikkyo Promising Future Scholarship, if you do not have the residence status of “Student” at the time of your admission and enrollment at Rikkyo University, you will not be eligible for the Scholarship.

Rikkyo Exceptional Student Scholarship (2nd year onward)

The Rikkyo Exceptional Student Scholarship aims to encourage excellence in learning and academic engagement so that exceptional international students can focus on their studies. By receiving this scholarship, students will be able to focus on working hard in their studies, fulfilling their ambition of studying abroad at our university to enrich their lives. Students are eligible to apply for this scholarship each year for their second, third, and fourth years of study.
Please note that the scholarship amount is different from both 1) the recipients of RPFS and 2) the students applying after enrollment.
